Gastrointestinal disorders come in a variety of forms from diarrhea, bloating, gas, nausea, vomiting, colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), etc. In Western medicine, medication is often prescribed to patients to help control the pain and provide relief, however, the issue lies in the fact that with so many different GI disorders and symptoms that arise patients often find themselves taking multiple medications and having unfortunate side effects.

According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), gastrointestinal disorders are caused by disruptions in flow of essential fluids in the body. At TCM Health Center we use acupuncture and Chinese herbs to help individuals with gastrointestinal disorders to balance muscle contractions and muscle relaxation. In addition to acupuncture stimulating the release of endorphins (natural painkillers in the body), increased gastrointestinal motility has helped many patients with pain and discomfort.

If you have any further questions about acupuncture treatment for gastrointestinal disorders, please feel free to give any one of our locations a call to schedule an initial consultation. We look forward to hearing from you!

I’ve had colitis for six years since my late teens. As a result I was on various drugs all the time. I experienced pain, diarrhea, bleeding—things that prevented me from living my own life the way I wanted to. It had gotten so severe that my doctor recommended I use a chemo drug to suppress my immune system. It just sounded wrong and I thought there had to be some other way. I did some research and I came across TCM Health Center. With acupuncture, herbs, and dietary change, the bleeding, diarrhea, pain and cramps have all been under control.
